Abstract

The scaling of component sizes and distances between them, during the early stage of Vehicle Architecture Design, is time- and cost-consuming, due to numerous requirements as well as component and position alternatives. To enable fast scaling of dimensions, this paper introduces the development of empirical and semi-physical geometric substitute models. For over 25 components and distances between them, over 300 vehicles of the A2Mac1 benchmarking database serve as main data source. The resulting accuracies range from 80 % to 97 % and are applicable for initial architecture investigations.
